Registered agent
Also called: registered agents, resident agent, statutory agent, agent for service of process, commercial registered agent
The person or company an entity must continuously maintain in a state to receive service of process and official mail. Also called a resident agent (Maryland, Michigan), statutory agent (Arizona), or agent for service of process (California). Every state requires one; the statutes are quoted verbatim on the statutes page.
