Filing office

Also called: filing offices, corporations division

The agency that keeps the business register. Usually the Secretary of State (SOS), but not always: Arizona's corporations live at the Corporation Commission, Maryland's at the Department of Assessments and Taxation, Massachusetts' at the Secretary of the Commonwealth, DC's at the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection.
